A day at Kikoti
Kikoti has great view and location. Enjoy a breakfast in the open, overlooking the famous African Savanah. Spend the day on a game drive accompanied by a talk with a ranger on animal sightings. Enjoy a catered picnic lunch right in the wild. Visit the Masai, with permission to round off the day, and back at the camp enjoy cold beer and a hot meal. Dinner is usually accompanied by live performances music and dance and song.
Wildlife watching
The area around Kikoti is known for its large elephant population. On a typical game drive one will find lions, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, ostrich, gazelles, hartebeest, wildebeest, impala, eland and gazelle. It is also an Ornithologist’s haven with many bird species on view.
The Tarangire National Park is located near the main water sources of that area. During The dry season between August and October is a good time to visit Kikoti. As soon as the short rains end in November, the elephants tend to move to newer grazing areas. However the eland, buffalo, gazelles, giraffes, leopards, rhinos, lions can be found pretty much year round. Even when animals migrate, they are frequently seen at new water holes.
Each tented chalet is raised on stilts and sits on a wooden platform. Screen doors and windows, and mosquito netting ensure a comfortable night rest. The Chalets have an en suite bathroom located in the back complete with flush toilets and hot water showers. Room service is on call to tends to your needs – the 1:1 Staff to Guest ratio ensures personal service.
The common areas consist of a lounge and fully stocked bar area adjacent to a dining room with amazing views of the plains.
Meals
Meals are carefully prepared every day and depending on the season, one finds a complete range of fresh fruits and vegetables. The 3-course meals are a fusion of African, Asian and European cuisines with Coffee and tea, soft and alcoholic beverages served throughout the day.
Families and Kids
Kikoti Camp is very family friendly and allows children of all ages. Though there are no nanny services, and parents need to supervise children, Kikoti Camp staff are careful about what the children are allowed to do in and around the camp.
Eco-friendly facility.
The main camp is completely powered through photovoltaic cells connected to inverters. Stand by generators are used only to power the kitchen refrigeration system. Water is strongly conserved, and guests are encouraged to participate.
Getting There
By Car:
Approximately 4 hours south west by road from Arusha. Most of the road is tarmac until the turn off point after which its gravel. It gets bumpy once you enter the Kikoti Concession but all roads are clearly marked and passable with a 4-wheel drive Land Cruiser.
Flying:
Manyara Airstrip (Coordinates 03 22 S 035 49 E). Most popular and used for daily scheduled flights.
Kuro Airstrip (Coordinates 04 00 S 36 05 E). No scheduled flights. Charter flights only upon authorization by the National Park service.

Staff & Service
Many of the staff at Kikoti Camp have been hired from the local Masai villages and trained in the art of hospitality. Some of them have been in employment since the inception of the camp a decade ago.
Staff are articulate in English, Swahili and tribal dialects and some are also fluent in European languages. All staff members have completed mandatory primary school at a minimum. The professional guides all have diplomas in wild life management and trekking. All staff members attend a mandatory refresher course conducted by a hospitality expert during the off-season.
