Locate d in the remote northern area of the Serengeti, Sayari Camp provides complete exclusivity and undisturbed game viewing. Its position close to the Mara River is a spectacle unto itself as one is literally in the path of the Great Migration- known to many as “the greatest show on earth.”

A day at Sayari Camp

Begin with an early morning wakeup call and a steaming cup of coffee. Typically the client will get an adrenaline rush with a hot air balloon ride cutting through the cool air of the plains as herds of elephant, buffalo and zebra scatter in search of food below you. Upon landing- you are treated to a breakfast and your guide will then take you either back to the camp for a well deserved nap or continue on a game drive. Return for lunch and an afternoon nap. Later go out for an evening game drive retuning to camp for a hearty dinner and cold beer.

Wildlife watching

While this area is full of animals all year round, the annual migration is at its peak in the Northern Serengeti between June and November as thousands of wildebeest cross the dangerous Mara River into Kenya. The big cats- lion, cheetah and leopard is often found there hunting  the migratory species and on occasion the black rhino is also found.

About the Camp

Sayari Camp is part of the portfolio of unique safari camps owned and operatied by Asilia Tanzania. The majestic landscape of the northern Serengeti is one of the best kept secrets of African safaris. Far from the tourist track, the area offers undisturbed exploration of the fantastic Serengeti National Park, with off-road driving still allowed in some parts.

The Camp and Chalets

The camp consists of 15 luxury tents set on a raised wooden platform and most popularly visited from mid July to early November. Each tent is artfully decorated in African chic style complete with luxury king size bedding and furnishing and blends in with the outside atmosphere of the plains. The common area consists of a full service bar, lounge and dining areas with views of the landscape. After a long day on a safari, one can also enjoy the coolness of the camps pool and pamper oneself with rejuvenation beauty therapy.

Meals

Meals are carefully prepared every day depending on the season and ingredients are locally sources from surrounding farming communities. Breakfast is typically continental while lunch is a buffet. Dinner is more elaborate sit down silver plated.

Families and Kids

Sayari is family friendly however the minimum age is 6 years and up. Nanny services are also available upon advanced request. However note that this is an open camp and parents are required to escort their children al all times.

The entire camp is powered by solar. Everything is recyclable.


Getting There

By Car

6-8  hours from Arusha and not advisable. However with an overnight stop at Asilia’s sister camps such as Dunia or Olakira in Central Serengeti it is possible to drive.

Flying

The nearest airstrip is Kogatende which is located approximately 15 minutes from the camp.

Staff & Service

The staff at Sayari Camp has been primarily hired from the surrounding villages and educated in the art of hospitality and service. Most of the staff have at a minimum primary school education however depending on their position often hold higher level education degrees. Many of the staff have been at the camp for a number of years and speak a variety of languages including English, Kiswahili and their local tribal.
